what is this machine made of?
The COME®-2770EZ is a commercial heavy-duty , durable, and portable desktop stack paper cutter/trimmer made of all steel.  It comes with an all steel cutting platform and an all steel extension table that are made of rugged heavy-duty steel of 1/8″ thickness.  The sturdy blade assembly is equipped with a positive paper clamp that locks down the paper stack firmly in place, eliminating shifting and tearing to ensure precise cuts.  As a safety measure, the COME®-2770EZ is equipped with a safety lock that is engaged automatically to lock the cutting blade until released.
The blade edge is made of high speed steel (HSS) with the hardness grade of 60-62 on the Rockwell Equivalent C scale (i.e., 60-62 HRC).  It  will last over 1,000 cuts before requiring re-sharpening or replacement.  it is razor sharp and can cut through a 300 sheets of 20 lb paper stack with a single easy stroke. 
With an all metal side gauge with a steel ruler in 1/32″ and 1mm resolution,  an aluminum alloy clamp wheel, and a precise backstop that is molded out solid aluminum, this commercial-quality paper cutter is designed to last and perform.  The COME®-2770EZ can be used to cut and trim any types of copier/printer/photo papers, card stock, books, leather materials, and fabrics.  It is ideal for any businesses, schools, churches, photo and printing shops.

how is this cutter different from other similar products?
1 – For paper cutters equipped with metal cutting bases, a common problem is that there may be a gap between the bottom of the back support arm and the metal cutting base. This is due to the fact, as we all know, that metal may shrink or expand due to temperature changes.  Consequently, the cutting base may curve slightly from time to time and the sheets on the bottom of the stack to be cut may slip through the gap. The all aluminum back support arm of the COME®-2770EZ is equipped with a special device that either extends or retracts according to the shape of the cutting base to ensure that it seamlessly “curves” with the cutting base.
2 – The back support arm/sliding bar of the COME®-2770EZ can simply be raised to accommodate longer and larger stacks as shown in the illustration below.  With other cutters, you’ll have to completely remove the back support arm to cut longer and larger documents.
3 – The COME®-2770EZ is equipped with the optional back support/extension table.  The back support/extension table extends the back side of the cutter and provides a more well balanced and stable platform for the cutter.  It also provides balanced support for the stack to be cut and also catches the output from the cutter.
4 – The COME®-2770EZ is equipped with a hardened high speed steel (HSS) cutting blade.  The blades can be re-sharpened or replaced if necessary.  However, after each re-sharpening, blades can get “ever so slightly” shorter, The COME®-2770EZ has built-in mechanisms to adjust blade assembly to compensate for the slight loss of blade height after each re-sharpening.

It’s made of wood! How safe and how strong can that be? 
This is one of the most common concerns of the skeptics. Well here is the reasoning behind why wood does not make the E-Z Press an inferior product. When used right, wood can be just as strong as steel. Just look at the way bridges where built 100 or more years ago. A lot of the large bridges are still standing today and are still able to carry traffic loads. Take a look at houses. Houses have been built from wood for centuries. They are still standing! And don’t forget furniture. Wood furniture, when constructed right, last hundreds of years of weight being applied to it. Ok, now what about the heating issue. Wood and heat don’t mix, right? Right and wrong. It all depends on how much heat. The E-Z press heat to 400 degrees fahrenheit. 400 degrees is not enough heat to make the wood combust into flames. If anything, it would only scorch the wood. The E-Z Press’s heating element does not rest directly on the wood. It stands off of the wood upper platen by 1 inch keeping it well clear of scorching. I hope you see that there is nothing wrong with a properly constructed wooden heat transfer press.

Dear Joe, I used E-Z Press today to make some mousepads. It works great, and I wish I could say the same for the Transferjet paper from (not gonna say). I ruined two pads trying to use that paper–the mousepad and the paper became fused. I tried it again and the same thing happened. So, duh, I used some paper I bought on eBay, and I have a printed-on mousepad! That transferjet paper cost me a $1.00 a sheet so I naturally thought it would be much better than the paper I bought on eBay for $.29 a sheet. Sometimes you don’t get what you paid for.

Hello –

I just bought my 2nd E-Z press from you through Ebay. I’ve had great success with the first, and have had many inquiries through other potential ebay bidders asking about the whole transaction and my feedback. I’m a happy customer and have told these people so, so much that I’ve added another press to my operations.

I’m emailing because I just received my 2nd press and see that you’ve made some design modifications. They’re great, for the most part, but I have a problem with the padded base. It’s the piece opposite the hot plate. The base on my machine measures only 13 ½” by 10” instead of the 14” x 10” that is in the product description. My first machine has a base that measures correctly, at the 14 x 10. Can you replace this padded base with one that measures the full 14”? I use these machines for melting fusible webbing onto fabric that I cut into appliqués and losing that ½” has disastrous implications. I use the full 14 x 10 area of the heat press.

This measurement has become the unit of measurement for my entire process.
It looks like it should be rather simple to replace, but I need it quickly. I’d be happy to send you the original padded base as soon as I receive a replacement, but I will need to start using this one soon.
Can you take care of this for me? Thanks!
