As you may know, Mauchline Ware refers to small decorative souvenir wooden items that were made in the Ayrshire area of Scotland……usually from Sycamore wood…..around the turn of the century. They were made in a wide variety of forms, both whimsical and practical……most often with a decorative transfer image of some natureal or historic wonder…….both in England/Scotland, as well as in America. rhorda store The beginnings of Czech glass fall to 13 century. Archaeological surveys have revealed the glassworks from the 13th century in the Jizera mountains. It was a system of generally three furnaces (the largest at temperatures over 1200 ° C melting glass, the remaining furnaces were instrumental) protected simple wooden shelters.These original sample cards come from glass factories in Jabloec and Pencin in the Jizera mountains.Glass buttons were droduced in the Jizera Mountains by winding sticks over a lamp and pressing of glass rods. For pressing was used a pressing pliers, and manual or machine press. After pressing, followed breaking, grinding and polishing on the rolls, or eventually was applied additional decoration as painting, gilding,silvering, waxing, etc. This is an oportunity to buy realy nice piece of history of making glass products from the Jizera mountains.There are 1166 antique & vintage colored pressed glass beads, pendants, buttons and +35 mettal buttons on sample cards. This auction contents 22 sample cards with serial numbers, some of them are signed and dated. The size is various 5mm(0,19inch) to 38mm(1,49inch), and are in good to excellent condition, shank-self, one hole, two holes, four holes, a metal loop.
