This auction is for a primitive wood sign 16″  X  21″  ”Welcome To Our  LAKE HOUSE”.   This sign is painted barn red over black with white lettering.   The edge is  sanded and stained to give the sign an aged primitive look.  Its then coated with 2 coats of non-yellowing clear for years of protection.  A wire hook is mounted on the back for easy installation.  Other available colors are Black, country tan over black, dk. blue, forest green and off white.

The basket, as noted, is a nice medium size, measuring 9½” across from handle to handle and 9″ deep (13½” to the top of the handle when it is raised.) This basket is in just outstanding shape for its age, although it does have a couple of minor flaws. If you look at the photo of the inside, you can see where a couple of the inside supports have flaws, as well as a couple of other narrow missing splints throughout. But the handle with its pins are in perfect shape, and as you can see from the photos, this basket still retains an awesome display quality. This basket is guaranteed to be an old one, and this classic shape is still one of the best around.

…… I have had my share of antique American Splint Baskets over the last 40 plus years, but I have never seen this form before, have you? It has an exceptional shape and was made by a master basket weaver. The hand carved handle is held in place by two copper rivets. This basket has a 7” diameter opening and the approximate distance between the bottom corners is 8 ¼”. The height to the rim is 5 ¼” and the overall height to the top of the handle is 9 ¾”. …… Normally I will not list an antique basket with damage, but I am making an exception for this basket.
