Eero SaarinenSaarinen began his career as a student at Yale University and after travels and studies in Europe returned to the U.S. and taught for a brief period at Cranbrook. Cranbrook was founded by publisher George C. Booth and Eliel Saarinen in 1927 and Saarinen became Director in 1932. Two of its graduates were Charles Eames and Florence Schust Knoll. Saarinen and Eames collaborated on various projects, culminating in a range of furniture that won first prize at an exhibition held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1940 entitled, “Organic Design in Home Furnishings.” After 1946, however Eames went to work for Herman Miller; Saarinen became associated with Knoll Associates. Most of our pieces are vintage (30+ year old) furniture. Condition will vary. A little bruising on chair and table legs is normal wear for furniture of that age. We will point out more-than-normal bruising on a piece, however.

Mint: The piece looks like it came right off a showroom floor. Original finish, with original luster and no wear or flaking. There are no nicks, gouges, or scratches.

Excellent: Nearly perfect with minor blemishes.  Piece may be refinished. We will note if the piece has been refinished or needs reupholstering.

Very Good: Showing some signs of age. Superficial surface scratches and blemishes are more visible than if in excellent condition. Finish may have minor flaking but the piece is otherwise acceptable. Cleaning or polishing will improve appearance.

Good: Definite signs of age and use. Visible scratches and stains but piece will be usable without being refinished. May need repairs.

Poor: Major signs of age and wear. Will need to be refinished and/or repaired.

…… Measuring 30 ¾” tall with a 43 ½” diameter top, this Antique Solid Oak Arts & Crafts Table was made by the Charles Limbert Furniture Company. I have looked on the internet and have found many examples and this table is called, “No 158 Double Round Table.” There is no label on this table, but I guarantee 100% that it was made by the Limbert Company. I have posted many close up photographs. You can see on the top an old crack which was reattached many years ago. There also is a thin sliver of wood missing from the bottom of one foot. The only other problems are some easily removable rubs and marks, mostly near the feet. The dark oak finish is the original surface and it is in very good condition. … I know in the right hands, this Table can be brought back to perfect condition. Description:
This is pretty cool, I have seen tons or antique Victorian hall tree racks, but I have to sat this is the first one I ever say will swing out hat racks….This antique 19th C. piece is made of Walnut hardwood. it has its original untouched finish, all alligatored and looks great, That’s how I like to find them all original…
Looking at the close-ups you can see its a little better than usual, this stick and ball hat rack is further accentuated with these great open work barley twist columns on each side, in the areas next to the columns are where the hat holders swing in and out, in when not using, out when in use. along the bottom is 8 swing out coat hooks, or for more hats for that matter, great to sling a baseball cap on….The top all balls on sticks…hence the stick and ball….
Toward the bottom are two balls that stick out and they have holes in the top of them, I do;’t know what these do…hang a coat on them…
This is a nice old piece, all original and simply hangs on the wall with a wire on the back.
 Size:
Measures 27″ tall x 31″ wide, the hat holders will stick out about 8″ or so.
 Condition:
Very good original condition, alligatored surface, a few small wood checks, some rubbing and wear to the surface…the bottom bar that runs horizontally is slightly curved downward, this will not pose a problem at all, it is solid as a rock, it is far from “warped”……

Harry BertoiaItalian artist and furniture designer, Harry Bertoia`s career began in the 1930s as a student at the Cranbrook Academy of Art where he re-established the metal-working studio and, taught as head of the department, from 1939 until 1943 until it was closed due to wartime restrictions on materials. During the war, Bertoia worked with Charles and Ray Eames at the Evans Products Company in California, developing new techniques for molding plywood. Bertoia designed the patented Diamond chair for Knoll in 1952. As a furniture designer, Bertoia is best known for the Diamond chair and the Bird chair, a high-backed model developed from the Diamond chair that looks like a bird with spread wings. Its organic, human-friendly form helped to create a new look for modernism. All of his work bears the hallmarks of a highly skilled and imaginative sculptor, as well as an inventive designer, deeply engaged with the relationship between form and space. Harry Bertoia received awards from the American Institute of Architects in 1973 and the American Academy of Letters in 1975.
