You are looking at a superb Dayak stopper/Charm possibly Nagju/Kalimantan? 5″ ~ from a private American collection.Carved from ironwood this example is simply superb!  The seated figure with crossed arms is DEEPLY encrusted with soot from storage and ritual libations from throughout the generations. There are remnants of rattan and organic matter on the base portion of the piece as seen in the photo.  The archaic nature of the sculpture, surface patina, and fact that this piece was in a private collection for many years suggests this is early generation Dayak; not the late or reproduction quality found in Borneo today….ALL OBJECTS MUST BE PAID WITHIN 48 HOURS OF HAMMER.

Superb Lumi Fighting Shield,ex. Bruce Lawes, New Guinea

Description: Hello, my name is Greg Hamson.  I am the brother of Oceanic Art dealer Michael Hamson.  I have been working with Michael for the past few years and have now started my own company—Art of the South Seas.  From my experience field collecting in some of the more remote areas of Papua New Guinea I have assembled a large inventory of objects and, more importantly, an extensive knowledge of the art.  Recently I have been fortunate to obtain a large private collection of Pacific art here in the United States that has bolstered my inventory.  So feel confident that what you are buying here is an older authentic piece of Oceanic art that is 100% unconditionally guaranteed—forever.  And if you have older, authentic items of Oceanic art I am aggressively buying material and will pay top prices for individual items or entire collections.  "Lumi Shield"Superb Lumi Fighting shield. ex.  You are looking at a fine HARDWOOD Sepik trumpet (Iatmul/Sawos) 19″ APPROX! From a private American collection.  Carved from very hardwood; this expressive and classic trumpet has great presence…  The shells are original as well as the resin on the head which shows some holes from old insertions now gone…  The patina is smokey from being in the mens house near cooking areas.  The patina has areas of handling and the wood shows good oxidation.  The face is REALLY well done in my opinion; totally captures the soul of the region. The circular designs on the trumpet are also well done and carved deeply throughout.ALL OBJECTS MUST BE PAID WITHIN 48 HOURS OF HAMMER….
