$202

GENUINE ANCIENT Chinese Tang Pottery Horse & Rider 900A brought to you by ArtAncient Antiquities for Sale

This is a totally genuine, provenanced, Ancient Chinese Tang Dynasty Horse and Rider figure, dating to approximately 900 AD.
A beautiful ancient sculpture displaying the unparalleled ability of the Ancient Chinese to depict the restrained power and beauty of the Horse. The horse is shown standing four-square, with well defined musculature and the features highlighted in white and black pigments.
The female rider wears long black robe and headdress.  She holds her right arm to her chest and her left arm to her side.
A wonderful balanced sculpture, which makes an awesome display-piece.
Chinese Antiquities represent a fantastic investment opportunity and high quality Ancient Art such as this is still woefully undervalued.  There is strong feeling within the Art Market that Asian antiquities, long neglected, are soon likely to escalate in value substantially, and out of proportion with the rest of the art market.
Beware of the many fake Chinese ceramics that grace the market these days. This is a Genuine example and is unconditionally guaranteed as described. We encourage all our buyers to show high quality pieces such as this to a local museum, authority or obtain a Thermoluminescence (TL) test.
Height: 12 1/4 inches.
Length: 9 3/4 inches.
Condition: Excellent condition. Some restoration as is common with genuine Han ceramics. Legs, tail, horse’s ears and base probably reattached.
Provenance: Ex. R.A. Collection, NY and Acquired in the 1980’s. The name of the collector will be provided to the winning bidder. Mr. R.A. was a prolific Collector of Ancient Art, acquiring important pieces from major auction houses and galleries in the New York Area over a thirty year period. His collection ranged from important marbles from the Christos Bastis Collection to rare Bronzes such as the only known Roman Bronze Boxer’s glove left in private hands. ArtAncient Ltd. is proud to have acquired a large portion of this collection, small selections of which will be offered for sale on eBay.

MASTERPIECE Ancient Greek Canosan pottery VOLUTE KRATER brought to you by ArtAncient Antiquities for Sale

One of the largest, most beautiful, genuine ancient Greek Canosan ceramics ever offered for sale on eBay.
This is an Ancient Greek Hellenistic period, Canosan Volute Krater, dating to approximately 250 B.C.
The magnificent Volute Krater is of typical form, with cylindrical, splayed base, acorn shaped body and wide flaring mouth.  Two loop handles lie balaterally and are surmounted by the circular volutes that give this ceramic shape its name.  The volutes themselves are decorated with beautiful molded and painted female faces.
The piece is painted throughout in typical Canosan, unglazed style.  In contrast to most Canosan wares, much of the original pigment remains on this example.  A winged Nike, two ladies of fashion, rosettes, tendrils and palmettes can still be seen in wonderful vibrancy, despite the extreme age and delicacy of the paintwork.
An incredible piece.
For comparison, please see Christies London, Antiquities, 13th October 08, lot 14, where two much smaller and markedly inferior Volute Kraters sold for approximately $6,000 each.  This item is being listed as a No Reserve auction, to promote ArtAncient Ltd’s new eBay presence.  Please see our eBay shop for more quality ancient art.
Height: 17 1/2 inches.
Condition: Exceptional condition.  Minor restoration to the lip on one side and a discrete, stable firing crack at the neck. Unlike the vast majority of genuine ceramics of this size and intricacy, this piece has not been restored from fragments and there are no major restorations.
Provenance: Ex. British Private collection, Ex. London Art Market.  By repute, previously part of a large European private collection and acquired in the 1960’s.

Shipping:It is important that you are able to rest easy and track your item once it has been sent. We send your items Registered and Signed-for.
